Recently, more and more people have been asking: What is a Czech sauna? Is it a new type of sauna? Or a special technology? The answer is surprising: Czech sauna is first and foremost a sauna culture, which originated in the Czech Republic and was inspired by Finnish, German and Scandinavian styles.

Czech sauna is about style, not technology

Contrary to what some portals write, there is no separate construction called the „Czech sauna”. It is not a technical model, but sauna style and approach, whose hallmarks are:

  • nudity and cleanliness (no swimwear, towel compulsory)
  • coeducational sessions (women and men combined)
  • quiet, relaxation and no rush
  • aufguss rituals with oils and sauna master
  • limited number of people and high culture of use

It's a style more akin to the German saunariums than to a domestic „quick sweat”.

What does a Czech-style seance look like?

  1. Thorough shower before entry - for hygiene and respect for others
  2. Entry into the heated sauna (80-100°C) - with a large towel
  3. Ritual aufguss (optional) - pouring water and oil on the stones
  4. Output and cooling - cold shower, swimming pool or snow
  5. Silence and relaxation - preferably lying down, without talking

Such a cycle is repeated 2-3 times to achieve a regenerative and detoxifying effect.

No. The Czech sauna usually uses the classic Finnish sauna, which you can also have at your home.

  • panoramic windows,
  • lime or fir wood (natural and resistant),
  • special ovens with aromatherapy.
